Jamie Dimon, Chairman and CEO for JP Morgan Chase says he regrets calling Bitcoin a fraud last year. This statement is a far cry from his previous position – as recently as September, 2017 when he said he would fire any trader in his bank that made an attempt to trade the cryptocurrency.
In September last year, Mr. Dimon called Bitcoin a fraud, but speaking to Fox Business earlier today, he says “I regret making that comment.”
“The blockchain is real” Dimon added. He further went on to say that “You can have cryptodollars in yen and stuff like that. ICOs… you got to look at everyone individually. The bitcoin was always to me what the governments are going to feel about it when it gets really big. And I just have a different opinion than other people.”
Before his comment about bitcon in September, he had previously cast more serious insinuation about cryptocurrencies and his recent U-turn does not come as much surprise to many in the crypto-world… People like Mark Cuban had in times past castigated cryptocurrencies until he took his time to understand the technology and he also made a similar U-turn… he is now an active player in the space.
