ICO Focus: Interview With Doug Barrowman of EquiCapital

EquiCapital Lead Founder, Doug Barrowman speaks to ICOWatchlist about their upcoming ICO;

Hello Doug, what is EquiCapital?

EQUI brings venture capital investing into the modern technological era. It allows individuals to combine forces and participate in an investment sector that has traditionally been the preserve of institutions and ultra-high net worth individuals. Our EQUI token allows individuals to adopt three strategies; they can trade the token, hold the token on the EQUI platform, or reap premium rewards by using it to invest in the investment opportunities that EQUI supports. With the latter strategy, 75% of the net realised profits on an investment are returned to the token holders who invest.

Put simply, EQUI is the exciting unification of a new cryptocurrency with an innovative investment platform.

What are the criteria for a start-up to qualify for EQUI Funding?

The EQUI platform will showcase projects that have been assessed and evaluated by the EQUI Investment team. These businesses may require not only capital but also expertise to steer the venture to optimisation and fulfill their true potential. Every opportunity is evaluated on its individual merits and those showcased will encompass specific attributes.  In anticipation of a successful close to the ICO, strong interest has been shown in the proposed EQUI platform by companies seeking investment. Propositions actively under consideration cover the sectors of technology, biotech and Blockchain. In particular, two very exciting investment opportunities have arisen in the areas of Big Data and eGaming.

Why will a blockchain based project choose EQUI as against raising their own ICO on blockchain?

An ICO, or indeed raising money through traditional VC funding methods can be a lengthy process – time better spent improving product or services. Through the EQUI platform, companies can gain access to funding from a wider audience compared to before. This means they are no longer restricted to the relatively small number of investment channels currently available.

In addition, what EQUI offers to its investee companies is mentorship, and the benefit of the years’ of experience of the Founders, Investment Team and Advisory Board.  Resources,  operational support and strategic advice will be provided to the portfolio to enable these ambitious founders to grow and succeed.

How is your project different from other similar projects on blockchain?

I think what really makes us different is the caliber of people involved. We’ve brought the best team together to build the platform and create something that’s an industry game changer in the venture capital space – an industry in which I have a successful track record for over 30 years.

Both myself and my co-founder, Baroness Mone of Mayfair, are entrepreneurs and we understand what it takes to grow a successful business. Our passion is to keep innovating. That’s what we’re doing here with EQUI and it’s exciting – it’s what gets us out of bed in the morning. We’ve been working on the plans for over six months now and as you can see from the team profiles in the whitepaper we have brought together a core team and Advisory Board of great strengths and abilities.

How soon will your tokens be tradable on exchanges and any hints of which exchanges will be trading?

We are already in early discussions with a number of exchanges, although nothing we can publicly announce yet. We are planning to list the EQUItoken on exchanges as soon as possible to provide market liquidity in the token.

Briefly run us through the process of your token sale.

Our pre-sale is open now until 15 March 2018. A minimum investment level of $100,000 is required to participate in the pre-sale. We have received a fantastic response raising $7m from the short time since our launch. We have a solid following in the community and we have obviously captured the hearts, minds and wallets of the crypto community.

Our public ICO opens on 15th March and runs until 12th March with a minimum investment level of $100.

Our tokens are priced at $0.50. The hard cap on the ICO is $81 million and we’ve laid out some illustrations in the whitepaper on how we would use the funds. We don’t have a goal but the absolute minimum we need to develop the platform is $2.5 million – and we have already surpassed this level. Key for us is that a larger ICO raise will enable EQUI to accelerate growth within the business. This would include solidifying infrastructure to support growth and provide the resources required to mentor and – mostly importantly – support a larger number of investment projects.
