Church in Switzerland Accepts Offertory, Tithes and Donations in Bitcoin

As curled from the Cryptonetix blog by Jeff Francis of bitcoinist, a Swiss church now accepts its offertory, tithes and donations in bitcoin. With most churches being traditionally conservative, it is quite progressive that the ICF Church in Zurich Switzerland is accepting Bitcoin from its parishioners.

ICF is an evangelical church and one of the largest in the country. With a pretty young congregation, it is not surprising that the church has taken this step. The church has in times past had affinity for cutting-edge technologies as such the move to accept bitcoin comes as little surprise as voiced by the church’s spokesman Nicolas Legler to local media;

“Digital currencies and the blockchain technology will change our daily lives more and more in the next years.

Cryptocurrencies will be implemented, be it Bitcoin or other currencies controlled by the State. We are convinced that this technology will soon belong to our daily lives”

Digital currencies and its underpinning blockchain technology will change the way the world works and its gradual adoption by mainstream organizations is a part of the entire process of this change.
